Stories That Stay With You

Welcome—we craft page-turners and resources to spark your imagination.

Where the magic of Emily in the Elevator happens.

“If you can take one step, then another, and another, before you know it, Chris, you’ve walked a thousand miles. And that’s how you can build the life you want.”

Grandma Fiona McDonald, Emily in the Elevator, a 9/11 World Trade Center Love Story

At its heart, Emily in the Elevator is about the people who show up: a firefighter sharing his respirator, an elderly survivor offering wisdom on a bus, friends who become family. If you love stories where community carries people through the unthinkable, this one will stay with you.

Meet the Author

A little about me. I'm a seasoned author with more than 30 years of experience, including acclaimed works on insurance business topics. When I'm traveling, I immerse myself in local history, and New York City is a fascinating place to visit and explore. 3 ½ years in the making, Emily in the Elevator, a 9/11 World Trade Center Love Story, is my latest work.

I wanted to write a love story born from tragedy, one that took the weight of that day seriously, not as a backdrop but as the actual engine of everything that follows. What fascinated me was the idea that survival carries its own kind of obligation, and that the people who make it through a tragedy like 9/11 have to decide, consciously, what to do with the life they were given back. I hope readers finish this book feeling the way Emily does at the end: stunned by how fragile it all is, and grateful that a brief connection with a stranger changed her life forever.

I live in St. Louis, Missouri, with my husband and our dog, Dakota. When I'm not writing, I enjoy traveling, gardening, hiking, and camping.
